South Slope Welcomes Greenwood Park

Greenwood Park, Ted Mann's long-awaited, highly-anticipated beer garden, opened to the public last night.  The new South Slope digs take up 13,000 square feet on the corner of 7th Ave and 18th in South Slope.  DigestNY was there for happy hour today.

The garden welcomes you into the space.  Three garage doors are the main entrance into the bar.

You can also order beers outside at the Cargo Bar, fabricated in the BK DIY-style out of a retired shipping container.

Inside the bar.  A few bar tables with stools line the perimeter.  The middle of the space has waist high tables to accomodate the droves that will eventually make their way to 555 7th Ave.  There are three TVs, one at either end of the bar and the third hanging on the far wall.  A chalk board advertised the European Cup final this Sunday.

This custom-built fire place will keep the bar warm when winter rears its ugly head.

There are 24 beers on tap.  The ones without a star next to them are available for $3 during happy hour, which runs from noon to 7pm.  Greenwood's food menu is short and sweet.  Classic American alfresco grub like burgers and dogs are priced to sell.

Three more reasons to hang at Greenwood Park.
