Lucky Peach #3 Is Out; New England Clam Chowder, the South Pole, and Celery, Oh My

The third installment of Lucky Peach is out and the pages of our copy at Digestny smell like rosemary.

The quarterly McSweeney's publication was started by David Chang, Peter Meehan, and Chris Ying.  The two previous issues are already collector's items with issue #1 selling for $155 on Amazon.

This time around it's the cooks and chef issue, get it while you can.

In other chef publications news, Thomas Keller, of Per Se and French Laundry and 11 other restaurants, has added a magazine to his resume too.  The second issue of Finesse is due out this month and focuses on his more casual affairs.

T.K.'s magazine is “a real magazine, not French Laundry propaganda,” and has contributions from Ruth Reichl and Ed Levine.

Wine Cellar Beneath the Brooklyn Bridge (?!)

This old photograph from Stanley Greenberg reveals what used to be a wine cellar under the Brooklyn Bridge.  Eater points us to an article that explains the cellar space was rented as wine storage to help raise money during construction.

Elizabeth Falkner Makes West to East Pilgrimage

Elizabeth Falkner established herself in San Francisco with Citizen Cake and Orson.  Citizen Cake Ice Cream Parlor and Eats had a 14 year run.

The talented (pastry) chef closed both San Fran operations at the end of last year with her sites set on Brooklyn.  She will land in either Park Slope or Cobble Hill and open a cocktailcentric pizza place sometime in the summer.

Oh, the desserts will probably be pretty good too.

Pete Wells + RedFarm = 2 Stars

Pete Wells is a big fan of dumplings.  At Red Farm, the new(ish) market driven Chinese restaurant in the West Village, he gives them and the rest of the menu two stars.

Redfarm is the wok work of restaurateur Ed Schoenfeld and chef Joe Ng.  Joe Ng doubles as executive chef at Chinatown Brasserie on Lafayette Street.

So that makes Ed, Joe, and the dumplings the face of the restaurant, right?

Price Hike on Del Posto's Lunch Prix Fixe, From $29 - $39

Del Posto's three-course lunch prix fixe used to be $29.  Those days are gone.  The price went up to $39.  So now it's just about $10 for every star the restaurant has.  It's still a steal.
