Pete Wells had a "Bumpy Night at Roberta's"

Pete Wells was none too pleased on a recent trip to Roberta's.

Apparently Pete's server wasn't doing the ol' check back on the night he dined there.  His salad came without a fork and his garganelli with squab ragu 'tasted strange.'

Roberta's forgot the Jedi mantra... "May the force fork be with you."

Smoked Meat Brings Smokin' Success

Noah Bernamoff and wife Rae Cohen are the force behind Brooklyn's Mile End.  As it turns out, they're a very busy duo.

Mile End Sandwich is planned to open in Manhattan, hopefully "by the end of March," and a Mile End cookbook is due in September.

With such a busy schedule, how does the couple find time to eat?

One Guy, One Girl, a Boat, a Garage, and Some Steak

Hugue Dufour and Sarah Obraitis are the married couple behind M. Wells.  Their diner in Long Island City had a short run but brought high acclaim for its unique meatcentricity.  The couple has maintained their chops working with P.S. 1 since January.

Now they're planning a steakhouse back in L.I.C., at 43-15 Crescent Street, and they said something about a catamaran.

Sounds like a modern day culinary tale of Spartina.

Despite a Few Dull Moments, Jungsik Manages Two Stars From Pete Wells

Chanterelle was open at 2 Harrison Street for 20 years, and for 10 years in Soho before that.  The 30 year run came to an end in the summer of 2009.

Jung Sik Yim took over the space, opened Jungsik, and started serving fancy Korean food to New Yorkers.  His efforts received a dull two stars from Pete Wells today.

Grandaisy Bakery Closing Original Location

Grandaisy Bakery, formerly Sullivan Street Bakery, is closing the original outpost at 73 Sullivan Street in July.

Now you'll have to go SoSoho to the new flagship location in Tribeca or to the Upper West Side for that rustic peasant loaf.

For those interested, Ed Levine breaks down the history of the Grandaisy/Sullivan Street Bakery.
