Pork Slope Preview Party

Pork Slope is the highly anticipated bar/restaurant from Dale Talde, David Massoni, and John Bush.  The trio got together and opened Talde in Park Slope back in January.  The restaurant was one month old when the triumvirate announced they were taking the former Aunt Suzie's space on 5th Ave between Garfield and Carroll a few blocks away.  The time has come.  Pork Slope is opening this Saturday.  Dale Talde and co threw a little shin dig last night to show off their goods and Digest NY got an invite.  Now we have some pictures and a hangover we'd like to share.

Food and booze flowed for free to a packed house all night long.

Classic BBQ options with a few other bar food standbys make up the menu.  Can't beat the prices.  The bread for the brisket, pulled pork, and B.L.T. sandwiches is black pepper toast.  The toast made its first appearance at Talde and is exactly what it sounds like; white bread smeared with butter that's seen a heavy handful of black pepper and then gets toasted on a flattop.  Great vehicle for the sandwiches.

The subtle sweetness from the (surprise!) cinnamon raisin bread was perfect with the porky melt.  Every bite screamed to be washed down with a cold brew.  Mission accomplished.

Everything you want fried chicken to be: crispy, flavorful, juicy.

The wings aren't your typical Buffalo wing.  The sauce is similar but these get battered before they're fried.

One down, countless more to go.  There are two boar heads on the wall.  F'd in Park Slope ran a contest to get them named.  We were going for "Pain Don't Hurt" and "Dalton."  The winner got an invite to the party.  The names: Boss Hog and Piggie Smalls.

The guys were never shy about where they drew their inspiration for Pork Slope.  That's Dalton, Patrick Swayze's character from the 1989 cult classic Road House.  The picture sits behind the bar and let's him keep an eye on things.

In addition to the rotating selection of 25 tap beers, the bar offers 20 canned options, 3 wines on tap, and a slew of bourbon and rye.  The bar is open from 5pm to 4am seven days a week with the kitchen serving every day until 2am.  Note: cash only.
